Chetna Organic

Our percale bedding is made of organic cotton grown by members of Chetna Organic, a farmer-owned cotton and food crop trading company in the rainfed areas of central and eastern India. Chetna provides a channel by which farmers can sell their organic crops directly to buyers. It also provides education in sustainable farming techniques, enterprise development, and advocacy.

Chetna works closely with a number of spinning and weaving mills in India that are certified organic. We source our percale bedding from one of these and are therefore able to trace the entire supply chain of this bedding collection back to the farms where the cotton was grown. The manufacturer we source from is both fair trade and GOTS (global organic textile standard) certified. In addition to paying its workers fair wages, it offers subsidised meals, medical care, free transportation to and from work, and school fees. 10% of its shares are owned by Chetna.
